CONTROL THE CONTROLLABLES

A Project Apex Quick Exercise

Two minutes before your next race. One thing to focus on.

02 CONTROL

Before your next race, take two minutes.

A lot can happen in a race that you have absolutely no control over.

Other drivers. Their decisions. Their mistakes. Who turns up in your split. What happened three corners ago.

You can't control any of it.

But you can control what you bring to the next corner.

STEP 1: SORT IT

Think about what's occupying your head before this session.

Ask yourself:

Can I control this?

If the answer is no, acknowledge it and let it sit outside your focus.

If the answer is yes, it belongs with you.

STEP 2: PICK ONE

Choose one thing you can control today.

It might be:

  • My preparation
  • My decisions
  • The risks I take
  • How I respond to an incident
  • When I choose to bank a result
  • What I do after a mistake

Now make that your focus for the session.

Not your finishing position.
Not your iRating.

Something you can actually execute.

STEP 3: AFTER THE RACE

Ask yourself one question:

DID I DO IT?

Not:

Did I get the result I wanted?

But:

Did I do the thing I decided was mine to control?

If you did, bank it.

If you didn't, learn from it.

Either way, the lap is gone.

WHAT'S THE NEXT CORNER?
